WELCOME TO: THE GT SPOT

Welcome to The GT Spot! Australia's ONLY website dedicated to the Mini Clubman GT. The last Australian factory built performance Mini, produced from mid 1971 until the end of 1972. Only 1200 of these cars were built, and today they are considered very rare and highly collectable!

This website presents accurate information, sourced from books, internet forums, official Leyland Australia documentation, NSW Mini Car Club publications, and word of mouth.

MINI CLUBMAN GT - AN AUSTRALIAN MINI ICON

The Mini Clubman GT to the Australian car market in July 1971. Some people claim it was produced to use up the remaining Cooper S spares that Leyland had in stock at the time, however this was far from the truth!

The Mini Cooper S was a HUGE success in Australia, and Leyland wanted to continue producing a performance version of the Mini.

The Clubman GT was also very popular in New Zealand, and it should be noted that it was vastly different to its UK counterpart - The 1275GT.

In January 1973 Leyland Australia ceased production of the Clubman GT, and this represented the end of an era for true performance Mini's in Australia.
